Olney is one of the busiest street-level shopping neighborhoods in the city, and cars here spend their lives squeezing past things. The 5th Street corridor is delivery vans on the hazards, buses pulling in and out, and double-parked cars on both sides for blocks at a time, which leaves one moving lane and no margin at all. The result is a steady stream of clipped mirrors, cracked quarter lights and scraped door glass, plus the occasional back window that met a pallet coming off a truck. None of that is dramatic damage, but a car with a smashed side window is a car that fills with rain and gets emptied out by somebody overnight, so it does not wait.
The residential blocks off the corridor are dense and parked solid, and the neighborhood keeps very long hours: people finishing shifts at eleven, starting at five, parking wherever there is a gap. Cars are outside and unattended for most of the day. That gives us the second half of the Olney workload, which is break-in glass, usually a rear door window on a side street where nobody is looking. Both jobs get the same treatment: a firm price on the phone, the glass checked against your VIN before you commit, and in most cases the car back the same day. Fifth Street is the artery, and it is a slow, congested, commercial road from Olney Avenue right down toward Hunting Park, with parking, deliveries and buses competing for the same width. Olney Avenue runs east to west and meets Broad Street at the Olney Transportation Center, where every bus in the north of the city seems to turn around. Rising Sun Avenue slices through on the diagonal, Tabor Road and Godfrey Avenue handle local crosstown traffic, and Front Street runs the eastern edge as the quick way south. The side streets are rowhouse blocks, one-way, parked both sides, with the added feature that many of them are used as through routes by anyone trying to escape 5th Street.

From the 5th Street side, just come south. Fifth runs from Olney Avenue down past Rockland and Wyoming toward Hunting Park; carry on to the Erie Avenue area, go east on Erie, and turn south into the small streets a couple of blocks past Front. The shop is on N Lawrence, in the block between Front and 2nd. If 5th Street is jammed with deliveries, which it often is, cut across to Front Street on Rockland or Wyoming Avenue and run south on Front instead, which is faster most of the day. Mirror glass, vent glass and the small fixed quarter panes are all sourced by part number, and the fixed panes are bonded rather than dropped into a channel, so they are a different job from a door window even though they look smaller.
