Logan sits on ground that has never entirely settled. The Logan Triangle, the long stretch of open land between Roosevelt Boulevard and Wingohocking Street where whole blocks of houses had to come down, is the visible version of a problem that is under a lot of this neighborhood: a buried creek, made ground and streets that sink slowly and get patched instead of rebuilt. Driving here is a low-frequency, all-day rocking motion rather than a single pothole, and that is genuinely bad for damaged glass. A windshield is a structural panel bonded to the body, and if the body is being twisted at every dip, any chip already in the panel is being worked on continuously.
So the pattern from Logan is distinctive. We do not see an unusual number of new chips from here, because the neighborhood is not built around a highway. We see an unusual number of chips that have turned into cracks. People tell us the mark sat still for two summers and then ran the width of the screen in a fortnight, and nine times out of ten they are driving the same route over the same sunken blocks every day. Broad Street runs the western edge with the subway beneath it and a road surface that has been opened and closed more times than anyone can count. Wyoming Avenue and Lindley Avenue are the crosstown roads, Old York Road and Ogontz Avenue carry traffic on the diagonal, and the residential streets between them are rowhouse blocks with the front steps almost on the sidewalk. What you notice driving Logan is the vertical movement: sagging blocks, patched trench lines, curbs that have dropped away from the road and manhole covers standing proud of the surface around them.

Wyoming Avenue east is the cleanest run: take it from Broad Street across 5th, keep going toward Front, then drop south on Front to below Erie Avenue and turn west into the small streets. N Lawrence Street sits in there between Front and 2nd. From the southern half of Logan, come down 9th Street or Old York Road to Erie Avenue and head east from there instead. If you are on the Boulevard already, stay on it only as far as Front Street and turn south. Under two miles either way, about ten minutes. Not on its own. A correctly bonded windshield is a structural part and it is designed to take body flex; what it will not survive is body flex plus a chip. Failures come from damage that already exists, or from a bad install with a contaminated bond line or the wrong primer, where the glass ends up carrying load unevenly.
